Happy Presidents' Day! 2/20/12

We had a wonderful turnout for Presidents' Day trivia with 9 teams playing. Each team had a number of members on them, which was awesome.

The image round had each team naming various types of cocktails. Could you have guessed these correctly? Some answers included: Long Island Ice Tea, Mint Julep and Rusy Nail.

Other trivia questions included a round on 'nuts'.

What's another name for the filbert nut? Hazelnut

What kind of nut is used to make pesto? Pine nut

RIP Whitney

To honor one of music's biggest queens of pop, round 3 was dedicated to Ms. Whitney Houston.

My dear friend Brent FINALLY made it to trivia night! He was a part of the 1st place team. (No, I didn't help the team, they were just THAT smart). Yay! I love friends. 

2nd place with 41.5 points went to team Let Us Introduce Ourselves

This lovely team took home a $10 Barrio gift card and a $10 Ragstock gift card as well. 

3rd place (losing by just .5 points) went to team Monday Night Hangover

Everyone's a Winner

When only 3 teams show up for trivia, everyone is a winner! This is what happened tonight. While there wasn't many teams, it made it competitive trying to figure out who would be crowned our champion of the night.

Some great themes included 2012 Oscar Nominees and Giants (in honor of the new Super Bowl champions).

Which Steven Spielberg film was nominated for best picture but not for directing? War Horse.

Which fictional canine giant's size was attributed to the love of his owner, Emily Elizabeth? Clifford.

It's a Wrap for January! See you in February!

Tonight concluded the end of January--that went by super quick! Trivia Mafia celebrated its fifth anniversary this week! Wow! Shout out to Chuck and Sean for starting up this wonderful company. While we only had 4 teams this week, it still was a great time as usual.

Round 2's theme was about the number 5. Why? You guessed it. In honor of Trivia Mafia's fifth birthday this week.

1st place with 38.5 points went to Electric Boogaloo with a Little Bit of Sunshine and a hint from the other dudes). Yes, this team joined forces with two men who left early and compared answers. Great strategy! I approve.

Love this team! They are here all the time and she even grades her school papers at Barrio. Dedication I tell you!

2nd place went to team Maharaja with 34. 5 points. This wonderful team has been here 5 weeks in a row. Way to go!

3rd place went to Playing with Strangers. This is their first time coming to trivia and they couldn't believe they won. Yes, the possibilities are endless when you try a new activity.

11 Trivia Teams: New Record

Wow! Tonight was a HUGE turnout. With 11 teams, it took me forever to grade everyone's score sheets. It was a blast as usual.

We had some cool horn music for the sound round. I couldn't help but dance as Gloria Estefan's "Conga" played.
