      Cravats

Once again, we faced a tie-breaking question at the Eagan Green Mill, and it took one of our dominating teams down to third place.  Hopefully we'll have a tight contest this week! Before I announce the winners, here are some puzzlers to bring to the table tonight:

#1 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan is known for having some strange pets. Max and Sugar, his two dogs, are one of three new breeds recognized by the AKC in 2010. What breed are they?

#2 In royal psychology news, a Bavarian princess suffered from a fixation with cleanliness among other maladies, but the strangest one was the delusion that she has swallowed a grand piano made of glass as a child and it was stuck inside of her.  Who was this peculiar princess?

      Winners!

First place, with the magic number of 42 points:Lock and Load!

And emerging victorious from a tie at 35 points, Fighting Mongooses!

And in third place, Anne Frank's Hide and Seek Club!

Finally, with a little help from his friends at 33 points, Al!

I'm pretty sure I've exhausted my supply of exclamation points for the year.  Good luck everybody and I'll see you tonight!

      Ties!

Eagan, I love trivia.  It's an opportunity to learn even more random facts that have a very specific use.  Has anybody else ever busted out some facts they learned at trivia the night before?

I've got another double dose of questions this week:

#1 Who was the first president to have a recorded assassination attempt against him?

#2 A prolific science fiction writer has a book published in each of the Dewey Decimal System's 10 major library classifications.  Who was that author?

      And now for your winners:

In first with 43 points, the reigning champions, Anne Frank's Hide and Seek Club

In second with 42 points, Lock and Load

Dave, you keep moving up in the world. With 32 points, Pevad

And Crisco and TR tied for fourth at 31 points, but TR broke the tie

      I'll see y'all tonight.

We're back this week with a vengeance!  I've always wanted to say that, the top three teams from last week were all within 4 points of each other, and I know we'll see even tougher action tonight. Before I get to the bonus questions, I have a brief public service announcement:

It's printed at the bottom of every trivia sheet, "Use your noodle, not your google," and yet I've caught someone cheating two weeks in a row.  If we used the microphone at trivia, I'm sure a public shaming would be enough, but I'm stuck disqualifying them instead.

And now for your bonus questions:

#1 In light of the recent upset between Baltimore and New England, Ravens fans are doing a lot of CORFing, which stands for "Cutting Off Reflected Failure."  What's the opposite of CORFing?  I'll accept either the acronym or what it stands for.

#2 I'm a huge fan of zombie movies.  If the Zombie Apocalypse were to have occurred during the 2010 state of the union address, wiping out all in attendance, who would have succeeded as President of the United States?  Hint, it's not Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, although he was the designated survivor.

      And now for your winners:

In first, with an impressive 38 points, Anne Frank's Hide and Seek Club

In second, with guests from Texas, Bubba Rocks!!

And in Third, with a very impressive point total, T & A

Finally, a man who named his team by taking his name backwards, Team Pevad

Great playing last week, Eagan, and I'll see you all tonight.

      Tales from the Dark Side

      Eagan,

I can't sing your trivia praise enough.  Our two juggernaut teams came within one point of each other this week and I know it's going to be close tonight.  Before that, here are a couple of questions for y'all:

#1 The man you see below is one of the most unfortunately named characters in the Star Wars universe.  What is his name?

#2 Before it was used in Harry Potter, the term "muggle" had seedier connotations.  What did it refer to?

      Here are your winners:

In first place, Anne Frank's Hide and Seek Club regained number one with 39 points.

Right behind them, Lock and Load pulled an impressive 38 points.

In third, Squishy Table decided to give Eagan trivia a shot.  Hopefully, we'll see more of you next week.

And pulling into fourth is team Fun! with 22 points.

Remember folks, use your noodle not your google! Bartenders and servers are fair game for a quick assist, but if they do, be sure to give 'em a nice tip!

      Late

The best way to start the new year off is with lowered expectations.  So, today's post about all of your fantastic triumphs will be a little later this afternoon.  Here's a few questions to get your head in the game for tonight:

#1 Dr. Seuss wrote several unsuccessful adult books throughout his career, but one in particular was about naked ladies. What was the name of that book?

#2 In 2003, Eminem was sued for using the name of his bully in the song Brain Damage.  How did the judge deliver the verdict?

I'll add the results and such later today.
